If you intend using a translation software program for any documents prior to sending them to foreign clients, you might want to make sure the original text is perfect, in fact Proof Perfect! After all, the software can only work with the material it is given. Here are some examples of what can go wrong when foreign text is translated into English.
From a brochure of a car rental firm in Tokyo:
“When passenger of footheave in sight, tootle the horn. Trumpet him melodiously at first, but if he still obstacles your passage then tootle him with vigour”
How about this on the door of a Moscow hotel room:
“If this is your first visit to Russia, you are welcome to it”
Finally, a sign in the surgery of a Roman doctor:
“Specialist in women and other diseases”
